About

Cuttlestones auctions fine art, antiques, and collectibles to a worldwide market. They strive to achieve the best prices for valuables through live and online auction bidding, offering a local service with a global reach.

Cuttlestones provides everything you would expect from a modern auction house: a dynamic website, professional photography and cataloguing of each lot, a live internet bidding facility, and a comprehensive marketing strategy, ensuring their auctions have global reach. Additionally, their central location enables the firm to offer a first-class service, from initial valuation through to settlement, across the West Midlands and beyond.

  • Brand and logo development
  • Brand guidelines
  • Website design

Challenge

Cuttlestones, a forward-thinking auctioneer and valuer, sought to rebrand to align with their image as a modern auction house. They needed a dynamic brand that would appeal to a preferred clientele and integrate into a comprehensive brand and marketing strategy to expand their global reach.

Outcome

A comprehensive brand strategy was developed through workshops with key staff members and marketing associates. This resulted in a fresh new brand identity, including new positioning, core messaging, and brand story frameworks. The strategy, along with the new logo, identity, and colour scheme, formed the basis for the website design. Everything was designed with the ideal client in mind. The new brand is strong, guiding, welcoming, and forward-thinking, supporting overall growth and attracting new clients with higher-value items to sell.

Developing the brand identity

Revive had been working with the Cuttlestones team on graphic design elements within their existing brand identity for several years and knew the business well. However, the time had come to update the brand and adopt a new market position to reflect the brand’s forward-thinking nature.

Through insightful workshops and strategic sessions, Revive developed a fresh brand identity, including a sophisticated new logo and a cohesive visual identity that perfectly aligns with our vision. The new brand is elegant, strong, welcoming, and professional, which is essential for attracting high-value clients.

Ben Gamble – CUTTLESTONES Managing Director

We embarked on a brand strategy journey through discovery sessions, intensive brand workshops, and a comprehensive strategy formulation. These sessions brought out key insights into the brand and clarified the future direction of the business. The workshops helped stakeholders understand and internalize the Cuttlestones brand, providing clear guidance for developing the identity with the ideal clientele in mind and storytelling frameworks for social media and case studies.

Their work on our dynamic website design, brand guidelines, digital and press ads, social media graphics, and branded merchandise has unified our brand presence across all platforms.

The result is a brand that stands out in the competitive auction market and supports our growth strategy. We’ve seen increased client engagement and higher-value items consigned for auction, all thanks to the rebrand. Revive’s expertise and dedication have been instrumental in our continued success.

The Logo

The new logo marks a significant departure from the previous design, becoming more elegant while maintaining a strong, established presence. The bold navy and gold colourways are designed to appeal to the ideal customer type, offering reassurance of a trusted brand that will guide customers through the buying and selling process. The logo also has an alternative portrait version alongside the landscape version.

The overall brand identity was developed seamlessly based on the strategic outcomes, lending itself well to a warm, professional, and reassuring appeal. It is versatile for use in digital platforms, such as website design and social media, as well as in print materials like ads, brochures, and bold signage around the buildings.
